Lamjung: The number of trekkers along the Annapurna trekking route has surged with the start of the tourist season, with over 150 tourists arriving daily, boosting the local economy.
Bhupendra Gurung, Chief of the Tourist Information Centre in Dharapani, Manang district, confirmed the rise in trekkers, noting an increase in both domestic and international visitors. From the beginning of 2024, 12,355 tourists have visited the region, compared to 10,897 during the same period last year.
The majority of trekkers are from France, followed by visitors from Israel, Germany, and India. Trekkers enjoy scenic views of the Himalayas, often traversing the Thorang La pass on their way to Mustang and Pokhara. This increase has led to improved business for local hotels and guesthouses along the route.
